Without a doubt, one of the most valuable commodities is time. The hours in a day are limited and the most successful entrepreneurs tend to make the most out of every minute. This doesn’t mean they are working nonstop. It means they are constantly finding ways to invest in their overall wellbeing — finding that holy grail of purpose and fulfillment everyone desires.
At theBLOQparq (tBp), we have a vision of building a community that allows fellow entrepreneurs to be a part of something greater. We are committed to creating an environment that fosters meaningful connections, collaboration, inspiration, and most importantly, continued growth. Never resting your laurels has always been an important part of the entrepreneurial equation, but when quarantine came into the picture, dealing with the unexpected took on a whole new meaning. Of all the things this pandemic has taught us, the value of investing in ourselves and our skills has made its way to the top of the list.
The increasing quest for “how to”
In mid-April of 2020, Google searches for terms like ‘online courses’ and ‘free online courses’ reached a historic high. LinkedIn reported that in the first week of April, people watched 1.7 million hours of video content on LinkedIn Learning compared to 560,000 hours in the first week of January. Even since businesses have reopened and people have gone back to living their “new normal” lives, the numbers supporting an interest in gaining new skills have shown little to no signs of slowing down. Here are just 5 of the many reasons people have chosen to continue bettering themselves and entering “how to” into their Google search.
1. Mental Wellbeing
Gaining insight and knowledge is a crucial part of exercising your mind. Staying active mentally, as well as physically, contributes to your state of wellbeing. Don’t be afraid to stretch outside your mind’s comfort zone to expand your breadth of knowledge and skills.
2. Professional Advancement
In addition to who you know, what you know is an important part of getting further along the entrepreneurial path. For many, gaining a new skill set is required in order to successfully transition from corporate America to living the American dream.

3. Staying Relevant And Adaptable
Having the ability to pivot during challenging times (such as Covid) is key to the long-term success of any business. Utilizing the versatility of your knowledge and your desire to continue to build upon it will only provide a stronger foundation for your entrepreneurship aspirations to stand on.
4. Being Social And Networking
The social component of learning new skills and pursuing various interests should not be overlooked. Forming meaningful relationships while adding to your list of “know-how” is a winning combination.
5. Gaining Fulfillment
Training should extend beyond professional development and into personal and creative passions, such as music, creative writing, martial arts, and everything in between. Dedicating time to the things that bring you joy has been shown to minimize stress and activate different parts of the brain that prove beneficial.
This focus on gaining new skill sets and continued learning is here for the long haul as the working world grasps the wide-ranging benefits of a lifetime of learning. People have chosen to embrace this newfound culture of perpetual growth and at tBp, we believe we’ll all be better off for it. Peter Parker’s uncle was right when he said, with great power comes great responsibility. But we also believe that with great skills comes great possibilities. tBp is the perfect place to live, work, play and thrive while you continue to realize your dreams.
