Being grateful can make you happy, and being happy can make you grateful. It is one endless cycle we would all love to be stuck on. At the BLOQ parq (tBp), we wholeheartedly believe in the importance of focusing on the good that exists, spreading positivity, and finding reasons to be thankful. Without further ado, here are 5 easy ways to focus on the good that exists in your daily life.

Take note of the little things.

You were able to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in the morning. The weather is a perfect 70 degrees and sunny. You got an exciting text from a friend. Nothing is too small to be thankful for, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner your heart will be filled with joy. Consider keeping a gratitude journal to serve as a reminder.

Incorporate mindfulness.

Before you can practice it, you must define it. Mindfulness is described as a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment. Being more attuned to your thoughts and feelings will help you react to life’s challenges with grace and acceptance. In turn, you’ll be able to identify your daily blessings better.

The cliché silver lining.

Hardships and obstacles – we all inevitably face them. However, it’s these dark times that hold the most incredible ability to shed light on things that have been taken for granted but deserve gratitude. In an ideal world, we would be mindful of all the gifts we are given, but most of us tend to need a little reminder to put things in perspective. We could all use ways to stay optimistic during these unprecedented times.

When a person expresses or receives gratitude, dopamine releases, thus making a connection between the behavior and feeling good. The more a person practices gratitude, the more often dopamine releases.

Studies have shown that volunteering to help others improve our well-being—a real win-win. The amount of opportunities to spread some kindness is unlimited—volunteer for a non-profit. Pay for a stranger’s coffee. Compliment someone. Don’t lose sight of the fact that small gestures can make a big difference. tBp believes there’s a power in giving back and a need to pay it forward.

Something worth sharing.

You can increase your feelings of gratitude by letting your family and friends know how grateful you are for them. As human beings, we tend to get caught up in our never-ending lists of things to do and, as a result, forget about the importance of the things we say. Words are powerful. Use them to tell others they are loved, needed, and appreciated.
