Mr. F. Ronald Smith (Ron) is a long-time, prominent Las Vegas businessman and is the lead Principal & Developer of theBLOQparq (tBp), a highly anticipated, master-planned concept slated to break ground early 2023 in Henderson, Nevada. theBLOQparq will deliver a versatile mix of retail, office and residential space for lease or purchase.

Ron relocated to Southern Nevada in 1996 as a single McDonald’s restaurant franchisee. Since his move to Las Vegas, almost 26 years ago, he has grown his McDonald’s franchise to 17 McDonald’s restaurants with a total of 700 employees that generate annual sales upwards of $70 million – all in Southern Nevada.

Ron, a highly self-confident and accomplished businessman who always welcomes new challenges and opportunities. In fact, he either seeks them out or creates them himself. People often state how lucky he is. His philosophy is that anyone can accomplish anything if they put their mind to it with hard work. That is his credo, the harder you work the luckier you get.

Ron is, very community-minded, extends his knowledge and leadership throughout the business community. He is a dedicated member of multiple businesses and community associations and has served on the boards of many, including the Greater Las Vegas McDonald’s Operators Association and is the past Chairman of The Nevada Restaurant Association. He has also sat on multiple McDonald’s Committees including the Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Committee and Rocky Mountain Region By-Laws Committee. He has also served as Chapter President of the Black McDonald’s Operators Association (BMOA) and proudly served two terms as National V.P. of Strategy for the National Black McDonald’s Operators Association (NBMOA). He was also a finalist in the National Restaurant Association’s 2010 Diversity Award competition and in the 2nd Edition of “Who’s Who” in Black Las Vegas Magazine and in 2016 he and his son and partner, Christopher were featured in Nevada Business Magazine’s
Family Business Award.

As part of giving back to the community, Ron serves on the Board of the Toe Tag Monologues – a program for at-risk youth — in which he actively engages in advising their leadership team and providing job placement at his McDonald’s stores for graduates of the Second Chance Job Skills Workshop Program.

Ron always looks for new opportunities. He never stands still. Previous to entering the McDonald’s system in 1993, Ron held high-level positions with ATT and IBM.

Ron served his country in the U.S. Air Force between 1966 and 1970. He spent tours of duty in Vietnam and England and achieved the rank of E-5, Staff Sergeant by 20 years of age. Ron utilized the G.I Bill to receive a quality education and attended such Institutions as St. John’s University, University of Maryland, Columbia University, and the University of Phoenix.
